Alumnus Luke Lavis Makes C&EN 'Talented 12'

Luke Lavis (Ph.D. '08, Raines) has been named to Chemical & Engineering 新闻' inaugural Talented 12, a list of "young researchers and entrepreneurs who are using chemistry to solve global problems." Lavis serves as group leader at Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Janelia 研究 Campus. He and his lab colleagues "work at the interface of chemistry and biology, assembling small molecule fluorescent dyes that facilitate sophisticated biological studies," according to their website. He is highlighted for his work with fluorescent dyes — molecular probes that help scientists investigate cells and neurons.
